Canyonlands Nationalpark

Der Canyonlands-Nationalpark ist in der Nähe von Moab im US-Bundesstaat Utah und in direkter Nachbarschaft zum Arches-Nationalpark gelegen. Das Gebiet wurde am 12. September 1964 zum Nationalpark erklärt und umfasst eine Fläche von 527.5 mi² (1,366 km²). It's soon going to cost private river groups a bit more to go padding in Canyonlands National Park. As of March 31 the park will assess a $20 per person per trip cost recovery fee for both flat water and white water trips on the Green and Colorado rivers. That fee will be in addition to the existing reservation fees of $20 per permit for flat water trips and $30 per permit for white water trips...

White Rim Trail - Moab, Utah: Mineral Bottom Road mindestens bis 2011 gesperrt

Mineral Bottom Road will be closed at least until 2011 because of mudslide damage, Grand County officials have announced. Several switchbacks about 12 miles west of State Road 313 completely collapsed during a storm Aug. 19., officials wrote in a press statement. The road ends near Horsethief Point and offers northern access to the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park and boat access to the Green River. Road repair funds likely will not be available until next year, according to the statement. Once funded, reconstruction is expected to take eight to 12 weeks.
