Garth Brooks wurde am 7. Februar 1962 in Tulsa, im US-Bundesstaat Oklahoma, als jüngstes von sechs Geschwistern geboren. Sein Vater Troyal Raymond Brooks arbeitete als Techniker und Konstrukteur bei dem Ölunternehmen Union 76. Seine Mutter Colleen Carroll Brooks war eine Sängerin, die in den 1950er Jahren in der Radio- und Fernsehshow Red Foley’s Ozark Jubilee auftrat und vier Singles veröffentlicht hatte.
