A hiker who ran out of water in the Australian Outback used not only his brain but his bright yellow pants to attract rescuers. The 27-year-old Brazilian man had undertaken a five-day walk on the Larapinta Trail in the Macdonnell range in central Australia, when he got into trouble, reports Australia's Northern Territory News. The hiker was dehydrated and exhausted, but still had the wherewithal not only to activate an emergency radio beacon (EPIRB) that he'd brought along, but to put on the brightest pair of pants in his backpack. A helicopter pilot was able to spot the yellow trousers against the red Outback landscape, even at a long distance.
